Applause rumbled as the Tolles Pavilion shook. My vision readjusted past the blazing bright lights as I scanned the crowd. Joyful eyes and smiles. Raised arms and cheers. I don鈥檛 remember breathing in those moments, but I remember what I felt. I was in a state of pure wonderment as I fixed the microphone back to the stand.

After two years of supporting virtual conference attendance, ROOTS 鈥� Hamilton鈥檚 Society for Students of Color in STEM 鈥� took 14 members to the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Students (ABRCMS) in Anaheim, Calif. The trip, which took place from Nov. 8 to 12, came at no fee to students, thanks to funding from the Dean of Faculty鈥檚 Office and a grant from Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

kylie burnham 鈥�15 is always working on a lot of projects. While they might appear unrelated, there鈥檚 a common thread: they all make people鈥檚 lives better.

This semester I鈥檓 taking 鈥淢ormonism in America and the World鈥� taught by Professor of Religious Studies Quincy Newell. I chose this class because I am interested in learning about a religion that is highly stigmatized and controversial. I was also intrigued by how the course explores the public perceptions of Mormonism and how they shape the religion.

The fourth annual Lighting of Our Village on Nov. 29 celebrated what light means to different cultural and faith traditions and its value as a symbol of hope. The event featured prizes, a cappella performances,snacks 鈥� and, of course, sparklers.

In November, 13 students accompanied Director of Outdoor Leadership Andrew Jillings to the 50th international conference of the Association for Experiential Education (AEE) in Black Mountain, N.C.

Long-time Hamilton professor of physical education Eugene 鈥淕ene鈥� Milton Long, whose ingenuity led to the creation of the hockey goalie mask, died on Nov. 18, 2022, at the age of 93.

鈥淲hat do you think happens when we die?鈥� I posed that question to a fellow first-year student during auditions for Yodapez, Hamilton鈥檚 most beloved 鈥� and only 鈥� improv group. I do not remember the response on account of the raucous laughter that erupted.
