Having spent a semester studying in Perugia, Italy, Gloribel 鈥淕lori鈥� Difo 鈥�20 became so captivated with the city that she decided to take what she saw and learned to create an interdisciplinary senior project: A Walking Tour of Perugia, Italy: Exploring the Building Stones Used in the City鈥檚 Construction.

The Alumni Council has nominated and elected three candidates to serve as members of Hamilton鈥檚 Board of Trustees who will serve four-year terms beginning on July 1, 2020.

President David Wippman co-authored an opinion piece published by The Hill on June 25 titled College towns have been clobbered by COVID-19.

Usually at this time of year, the College is buzzing with activity, as summer research, internships, and camps are underway. As we know, things are different this year, so College photographer Nancy Ford took some time to visit our quiet 鈥� but still beautiful 鈥� campus.

When Emily Cutajar 鈥�21 learned that the job she had planned for the summer was canceled due to COVID-19, she rushed to find another internship. Reaching out to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, she found a new opportunity.

鈥淭he motto immortalized on the Hamilton seal is 鈥楰now Thyself,鈥欌�� said Todd Franklin, professor of philosophy, at a virtual panel discussion on June 17 about the history and implications of systemic racism. 鈥淧art of knowing thyself, however, is knowing how you are situated. Now is the time to really make a concerted effort to know yourself in relation to race and the context of our nation鈥檚 racial situation.鈥�

Juasline Plasencia 鈥�23 is using a summer research grant from the College to teach art online to students at Miami Southridge High School 鈥� and provide them with art supplies. She plans to share the students鈥� artwork on social media.

Rob Berk 鈥�20 didn鈥檛 celebrate his graduation from Hamilton like most other students, though that might not come as a surprise.

Whether the audience is middle-schoolers or seminarians, lshaq Pathan 鈥�16 delivers information as antidote and fuel for understanding. He is the Bay Area director of the Islamic Networks Group, a nonprofit organization that pursues peace.

Hamilton has committed to developing collectively a comprehensive plan of action, beginning with three steps identified by President Wippman, to set the College on a path toward healing and positive change.
