When Hamilton鈥檚 class of 2024 arrived on campus in August, 2020, it was in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, so many of the usual opportunities and experiences for new students were not possible. In an effort to make up for that, Hamilton this year offered sophomores the opportunity to take Adirondack Adventure trips during Fall Break.

Mother Nature was a gracious hostess as warm temperatures and sunny skies greeted more than 2,000 alumni and family members who attended an in-person Fallcoming Weekend, Oct. 8-10.

Rain鈥� and plenty of it 鈥� greeted new students and families, but that did not deter Hamilton鈥檚 orientation leaders from providing a raucous and warm welcome to members of the Class of 2025 and transfer students when they arrived on the Hill on Aug. 17 for move-in and new student orientation. Orientation continues through Aug. 25, then classes for all students begin on Aug. 26.

After a comprehensive search process, FoJo Beans, a coffee roaster from Hamilton, N.Y., has been selected as the successor to Caf茅 Opus and will open two locations on campus. Work on the new caf茅s is underway, and an opening date for FoJo South (McEwen Dining Hall) and FoJo North (Taylor Science Center) will be announced closer to the start of the academic year.

Hamilton President David Wippman announced the promotion of Associate Professor of Anthropology and Associate Dean of Faculty Nathan Goodale to the rank of professor, effective July 1.

President David Wippman recently announced the appointment of four Hamilton faculty members to endowed chairs. All will be effective July 1, 2021. Tina Hall was appointed the Christian A. Johnson Professor of Teaching Excellence; Lydia Hamessley was awarded the Eugene R. Tobin Distinguished Professorship; Doran Larson was named the Edward North Chair of Greek and Greek Literature; and Quincy Newell was appointed the Walcott-Bartlett Chair of Ethics and Christian Evidences.
