Saturday Speaker Series
Year after year, expert speakers in our popular Saturday Series draw an audience from far and near. Participants leave with knowledge they can use in their gardens, yards, and homes. Some events include demonstrations. The 91制片厂 campus is an accredited arboretum; please consider exploring if you attend one of our events.
All events in this series take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturdays. They are free and open to the public.

Join Landis Arboretum executive director and ISA-certified arborist Fred “Tree Man" Breglia as he delves into the best way to prune your trees and shrubs correctly. Fred will present an educational discussion on the most current and effective pruning, planting, and mulching techniques for your yard and garden. These methods focus on developing and maintaining healthy plants, making them less susceptible to problems. The lecture will include time for questions. Fred Breglia has worked in the green industry since the age of 18 and has been employed by Landis Arboretum in Esperance for the past 28 years, 15 of which he has served as executive director. He is a frequent speaker, educator, writer, and a regular guest on the WAMC radio show Vox Pop. Many people know him as "Tree Man" due to his roles at the Arboretum, as well as his passion for discovering large trees around the world.
Many aspire to incorporate more native plants and cultivate naturalistic landscapes, but aren’t sure how to integrate them into existing or new designs. What do you plant to attract pollinators? How can you manage invasive plants and strike the right balance between cultivated and uncultivated areas without them looking unkempt? With the right plant choices, careful planning, and thoughtful management, native plants can seamlessly integrate into traditional landscaping designs. In this slide lecture, you'll discover ways to loosen up your style, emulate nature, and incorporate native plants into your landscape. Discover resilient plant species that promote biodiversity, reduce maintenance requirements, and enhance your outdoor environment, providing a habitat for birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.
