Steve Wulf '72, an executive editor at , has published a review of Mark Bowden's latest book The Best Game Ever: The Birth of the Modern NFL in the June 10, 2008 issue of the Wall Street Journal. Wulf's review also appears on .

In the review, Wulf says it is Bowden's ability to "illuminate the warring elements of pro football" (phenomenal luck versus focused preparation and training), coupled with his talent for bringing the anecdotal to life, that help make a "compelling case" for his claim that the December 1958 championship game between the Baltimore Colts and the New York Giants was, indeed, the best game ever.

Wulf praises Bowden most enthusiastically for his unobtrusive presence as author, and for allowing the legacy of the historic 1958 match-up to speak for itself.
