鈥淲hat鈥檚 the cost of activism? It鈥檚 huge,鈥� Natalia Arno, founder of the Free Russia Foundation (FRF), said in a talk on April 18. Arno, in her presentation 鈥淗uman Rights and Democracy in Russia,鈥� discussed her activism experience within the Russian political system and explained the current state of Russian politics. She described the extent of Russia鈥檚 authoritarian policies and practices while including anecdotes from her own life, detailing the corruption that has increasingly pervaded Russian society.

The North East Middle East Politics Working Group (NEMEPWG) settled into the 91制片厂 campus for a weekend of peer discussion and review on April 12 to 14. The aim of NEMEPWG, which consists of academics who specialize in topics based in the Middle East and Northern Africa, is to provide a space where scholars with similar backgrounds and knowledge can help one another with their studies and writings.
