New York State Senator Rachel May joined Hamilton students and members of the local community for a town hall meeting about climate justice on Oct. 8, organized by Sunrise Hamilton. May answered a number of questions on bills, policies, and initiatives related to the event鈥檚 broad theme of climate justice.

Utica College Professor Anthony Baird, Hamilton Professor Todd Franklin, and SUNY Polytechnic Institute Professors Mark Montgomery and Ronni Tichenor spoke in a webinar addressing 鈥淲hat is Systemic, or Institutional Racism?鈥� on Sept. 30. This event was part of an ongoing series focused on Racial Justice and Criminal Justice Reform in Oneida and Herkimer Counties.

Utica City Councilman Delvin Moody and Utica College Professors Clemmie Harris and Bernard Hyman spoke in a Zoom webinar titled 鈥淏lack Lives Matter: The Movement and Its Importance to All of Us鈥� on Sept. 23. The webinar, which was also broadcasted on WUTR, was moderated by Hamilton Professor Frank Anechiarico and sponsored in part by the Levitt Center Law and Justice Lab.

Professor of Biology Herm Lehman discussed 鈥淭he Fundamentals of COVID-19, Contact-Tracing, and Campus Safety鈥� in a Zoom lecture on Sept. 16. He provided background information on the virus, before explaining the role of contact-tracing and detailing his work with Oneida County over the summer.
