Course Description: | Conflict is an unavoidable part of environmental management and policy development. This course will use an environmental/natural resource lens to introduce theories of conflict and conflict management. Students will study the causes and dynamics of conflicts; consider the role of culture, identity, and scientific expertise in conflict escalation and resolution; and learn conflict resolution techniques. Using case studies and simulations, students will learn to analyze and map conflicts, from simple disputes to "wicked" conflicts, and practice conflict resolution skills. |
