Brianna Burke
Visiting Associate Professor of Environmental Studies
For the past decade, Brianna Burke鈥檚 teaching and research has explored the connections between environmental justice, American Indian studies, climate change, and animal studies.聽 Currently she is finishing a book titled Becoming Beast: The Humanimal in Climate Justice Literatures, which explores the shifting ideologies of what it means to be (considered) animal in a world of decreasing resources. She has two forthcoming publications: 鈥淒isemboweling the Hyperreal in Bong Joon-ho鈥檚 Okja鈥� forthcoming in Animal Futurity, and another 鈥淩ewriting, Reimagining, and Remaking the World in Thomas King鈥檚 The Back of the Turtle鈥� in Comparative American Studies.聽During her position at Hamilton, Burke will also remain an associate professor of American Indian Studies and Environmental Humanities in the English Department at Iowa State University.
