Awards
Fulbright provides round-trip transportation, a stipend based on living costs in the host country, supplemental health and accident insurance, access to mental health support, and one year of non-competitive eligibility for federal government hiring. Some countries may provide language courses or other benefits.
Selection Process
Selection is based on academic achievement, language proficiency (relative to the requirements of the host country and proposed project), the feasibility of the research or program of study, and personal qualifications. While applicants who go through the Hamilton process will have a campus interview in September, all applications go forward as part of the Hamilton cohort. In late January, all candidates are notified of their status, recommended or not recommended. Recommended candidates' applications are forwarded to host countries for review and final selection. This can be a long process, and recommended candidates may not know their final status until late in the spring.
