Certified Foodies and Me

July 21, 2011 in Contests, Food, My Life, Photos by Ane

It has been a looooong, looooong time since I last joined a blog anniversary giveaway, the last one I joined was back in June of 2009 when I won a bag from Phatelara of Phat Ramblings. I love that bag and I bought awesome blue wedges and silver flats to go with it, because what is a bag if not accessorized by awesome shoes right? Okay, that’s just me. I have more shoes than bags but I love the bag because it’s from a friend and it was the first thing I have ever won online. I rarely ever win anything at all, not even a free online bingo game. I am not lucky when it comes to winning things, I can have like a hundred entries more than anyone else and I still wouldn’t win. That’s how unlucky I am with contests.

I joined a couple of blog giveaways/contests after that and won EC credits and a book, the Must-Have Mom Manual from The UnMom which I won back in September of 2009. However, me winning EC credits and the book had nothing to do with luck. I won the EC credits for the most comments on a fellow blogger’s blog and the book I won because I had the most entertaining comment about my experience as a mom.

It has been more than a year since my last online contest and I think it’s time I get back to trying my luck and who knows, I may win something again. I plan on joining a couple of blog giveaways this year, because the prizes are so awesome and it’s fun, and I need some fun, I don’t get out much.

The first contest I am going to join is the Certified Foodies First Anniversary Giveaway. I have been a reader of the said blog for sometime now, I met one of the authors of the blog (Mhel of Just Another Pixel.Net) through an online community, which I am so happy to be a part of (shout out to my fellow Pinay Mommies Community members!).  So anyway, this blog is authored by siblings who love food and share their dining experiences and some of their own recipes. I love learning new recipes to try out and although I am not that adventurous when it comes to trying out new food, I will try anything at least once, but it’s nice to know which kind of food to stay away from before hand, that’s what their blog does for me, they provide me with information on what dish I must try or which to avoid. I hate it when a dish disappoints me, don’t you?

This is my official blog entry for the Certified Foodie Photo Contest. I’m supposed to post a picture of me with any food product. I so badly wanted to join this contest but I realized that when dining out, I am never in the picture with the food I eat! Nada. Not one picture of me with food. Oh, there was one with my hand in it, and one with my finger, but not one with my face. LOL. I never once thought to take a picture with the food, I take the photos of the food (by I, I mean B, LOL.:))) for when I blog about it or post it on Facebook, but I never once thought about being in the photo too, weird. So, I took this photo of me instead.

Breakfast for Dinner!

I love breakfast food for dinner. They’re easy to cook and they are oh so yum! As you can see in the photo I have red eggs with tomatoes and tocino. Tocino is sweetened pork and red eggs are salted duck eggs. The photo was taken by Chakai with my iPhone and an Instagram filter was applied to it in my effort to hide my pimple blemish on my chin. I can probably remove that with photoshop but I don’t know how, so it’s there. LOL.:)) Anyway, B is still away on a business trip and won’t be back until tomorrow, so the kids and I decided we wanted to eat tocino and red eggs for dinner. Here in the Philippines, tocino and red eggs are considered breakfast food, it is eaten with lots of rice on the side. In our household, we rarely ever eat anything processed like tocino, longganisa (sausages), canned meat or fish, we usually have organic veggies and of course the freshest meat and fish from the market, so eating tocino once in a while is a heavenly treat. Oh, don’t worry, we eat out every week, so we get some junk food in our system too.:P

Anyway, they are celebrating their first blogoversary and to thank all their readers, they are hosting a big giveaway. BIG, as in they have prizes worth Php30,000 (about $700). You should so totally join too!

About

I am a freelance writer who blogs to my heart's content when I have no articles to ghost write for other people.

I love what I do because I can stay at home and take care of my kids and my husband while I earn some money so I can buy stuff my kids want, eat out every Sunday night, go out for coffee with my friends, pay for my credit card and internet and pamper myself in the salon to keep my husband attracted to me. LOL. :D

I am who I am. I am not perfect nor I try to be, I have grown comfortable in my own skin and I love myself. I have accepted the fact that I can't please everybody, so I don't strain myself to even bother. What matters is that my friends and family know me and accept me for who I am, warts and all. :)
