Cooking Is A Science

I have always wanted to become a Gourmet Chef. I'm like Remy the Rat in Ratatouille, only I am not as good a cook as Remy the Rat. Which is why that is one of my frustrations, but I guess I wouldn't have made a good chef anyway, because I am not that adventurous when it comes to cooking and as much as possible, I stick to the recipe. I'm not like Coy, my sister, or B who'd take risks and cook something different or out of the ordinary. As a matter of fact, B reminds me a little bit of Heston Blumenthal, the author of the big fat duck cookbook. Heston Blumenthal is known as the proponent of Modern Cooking and his style is reflected through the courageous dishes he makes, like that of his bacon and egg ice cream, snail porridge and parsnip cereal. He has been on numerous shows such as Kitchen Chemistry with Heston Blumenthal, Heston Blumenthal: In Search of Perfection and Heston Blumenthal: Further Adventures In Search of Perfection. Heston Blumenthal did not have formal culinary schooling and yet he has become one of the top chefs in the world. He's known for his bacon and egg ice cream and snail porridge. He put up a restaurant which he called The Fat Duck. The big fat duck cookbook tells the story of how Heston Blumenthal opened up The Big Fat Duck restaurant in 2001. The book is divided into 3 parts, the first part tells the story of the inspiration and the opening of his restaurant, The Fat Duck. The second part consists of recipes that are on the menu of the Fat Duck, as well as recipes that were once part of the Fat Duck's menu and the third part is devoted to the science of cooking. If you are a Heston Blumenthal fan then you'll love other books he's written which you can purchase online via borders.

Although I'm sure his recipes taste good and all, but I am more of a Rachel Ray kind of cook. Rachel Ray also didn't have formal culinary schooling, but she is one of the top chefs in the world too, although she prefers to be called a cook, I admire her because she is so humble and she has great recipes that the average joe can make in 30 minutes or less. I love Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals, they are fast and easy to do, perfect for a mom of 2 like me who can't afford to slave around in the kitchen all day. It's a good thing that a Book Shop online offers a lot of cook books, in book form, audio books and ebooks as well. I love technology, you can find almost anything online these days.
