Aspirational Design Updates (Week of 9/29)

Dear Hamilton Community,

Thank you to all who responded to last week’s email and signed up for upcoming Aspirational Design events. We appreciate your engagement! So far, more than 300 campus community members have shared their insights and thoughts through activities that have included design charrettes, prototype testing, tabling conversations, and interviews.

As a reminder, our Aspirational Design process will continue throughout the fall with additional events and charrettes, each centered on a core theme. These gatherings are an opportunity to bring campus community voices directly into the work of shaping Hamilton’s future.

What Happened Last Week

  • Prototype testing for the Creative Campus & What If theme.
  • Tabling for the Hamilton 360 and Practicing the Liberal Arts themes.
  • A portfolio of ideas across the first three themes has been compiled and is posted in the Design Hub. They will also be shared at the upcoming Community Charrette (details about both below).

Coming Up This Week

  • NEW! Design Hub Now available!
The Design Hub is now open in the front of Burke Library near the Stryker All-Night Reading Room. Stop by anytime to learn more about the Aspirational Design process and the six charrette themes. Post-Its are available for you to share what sparks your imagination and what you’d like to see in Hamilton’s future.

Save the Date!

Community Charrette
Wednesday, Oct. 8; 7-9 p.m.
Tolles Pavilion
This will be the first of two all-campus charrettes where the work completed during the three preceding Focus Charrettes is shared back with the Hamilton community. These sessions invite everyone to reflect, test prototypes, and help continue to shape each theme. Dessert and drinks will be provided.

Faculty Mini-Charrettes
Additional opportunities for faculty to engage with the Aspirational Design process are being offered in October and November. Please see the email from the Dean of Faculty for dates and to RSVP. Please reach out to Dean Munemo with any questions.
