I love spelling! It is one of the things I liked about school.
Although I have had a bad experience with it once in 4th grade.
We had this English teacher that everyone was afraid of, she was only 4’10″ tall but she was terrifying. Her name was Ms. Babe Deñiega. One day in class she called on me and asked me to spell the word frightened. So I got up of my seat, quavering and said “F-R-I-G-H-T-E-N-E-D”, she looked at me and then said, “You’re wrong.” and gave a tug at my sideburns, it freakin’ hurt like hell. I was close to tears as she went back to her desk, looked at a piece of paper and then looked at the rest of the class and exclaimed, “Oh, you’re right, my mistake.” I was like, WTF? You freakin embarrassed me in front of the entire class and that’s all I get, how about an apology? I didn’t say it out loud, but that was what I was thinking. I still hold a grudge. LOL.
I’m a super speller and there are only a few words I can’t spell, one of them is TONGUE. I mean really, who can remember that it’s supposed to be spelled TONGUE and not TOUNGE. Why couldn’t it be spelled T-U-N-G instead, it makes it so much easier.
ACCOMMODATE is another word I struggle with, it’s simple enough to remember, just double the C and the M but somehow I always forget one C or one M. Weird.
HORS D’OEUVRE is another one. I mean it’s pronounced ORDERVS, so why couldn’t it be spelled like that? Sure, it’s French, but still, does it really need to be spelled so complicated?

But of course there are some words, which no matter how hard I try I always have to double check to make sure they're correct LOL!

WTF at the teacher! Pagtulungan na yan! I'm having a hard time spelling that French word. See, I didn't even "say" it here. LOL!

Yay! In my case, I have a problem in the word RECEIVE. I always thought it is R-E-C-I-E-V-E just like RELIEVE where in I comes first.
